Hi, I’m Kara—aka The Rogue Michi-Texan.

I grew up in Michigan, spent most of my adult life in Texas, and somewhere in between lived in a few other states, collected a lot of stories, and became a mom to the sweetest kid I know (Bee*).

After a 19-year relationship/12-year marriage ended in a way I never saw coming, I found myself standing at a crossroads: broken, confused, and wide open. So I did the one thing I hadn’t done in a long time—I chose me.

This blog is where I document what happens next.

The Rogue Michi-Texan is part travel journal, part healing space. It’s where I write about:

• Solo trips and slow drives through small towns

• Honest reflections on starting over

• The quiet moments that help me find my way back to myself

I’m not here to give advice or preach a comeback story. I’m here to share what’s real. The messy parts, the peaceful parts, and everything in between.
